Managing User Access to Edge

If you need to create a new login for a user, follow this page.

Different user roles in EdgeManager

EdgeManager is a versatile tool which is used for both installation and configuration, but also for basic monitoring and demo purposes. It may be wise to assign user roles with different levels of access to users of an Edge.

Edge has 4 types of user roles that can be assigned:

Viewer

You get a simplified user interface. Advanced features are hidden and making changes is not possible. This is particularly useful for dashboard-only applications or for (customer)location managers that need a simple overview.

Read-only

You cannot edit anything, but you get the full user interface with all insights.

Maintainer (Default)

This is the default user role. You can configure the Edge.

Admin

You can configure the Edge and access advanced features. These features are only used in pilot locations.

How to assign user-roles in Edge?

A user with the role of maintainer or admin can configure user roles for other users. To configure user roles, login to EdgeManager, navigate to settings and click user roles.

The email addresses of users with their roles can be added to the table.

User roles settings table

Optionally, an entire company domain can be added starting with the @.

The keyword default can be used as default role for users that are not specified in the table.

The keyword local can be used to specify the role for local/direct connections (used for installation).

To remove a user from the table, just clear both email and user role.

🚧

Please keep in mind that there should always be someone with the role of maintainer or admin. If there is no one in the role of maintainer or admin by mistake, contact Last Mile Solutions support.

Switching between user roles

For people with the role of maintainer or admin it may still be convenient to use the simplified view that a viewer has. To switch to another view, use the button on the top-right corner of the EdgeManager.
