How to Configure Export Limits
For solar generation and energy storage systems, physical or contractual limitations may prevent you from exporting power to the grid. This could be because you have a high solar capacity or a zero-export contract. The Edge loadbalancer is fully bidirectional and supports export limits with the same flexibility as the usual import limits. This includes sub-grid and multi-level capabilities.
By default, configured limits apply to both import and export. For example, a 63A grid limit functions as both import and export limit. To establish different export parameters, change the export limit from "Same as import limit" to "custom".
Export limit parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Max export current | Export limit in Ampere (positive value) |
| Max export power | Export limit in kW or kVA (positive value) |
| Hysteresis | Works the same as the import limit hysteresis. When the grid current falls within the hysteresis range, the loadbalancer will not ramp up or down. Example: 50A limit with 5A hysteresis creates a range of −50 to −45A |
| Panic threshold | When enabled, if current falls below the limit + panic threshold, Edge will turn off all devices that are exporting immediately and throw an alarm |
Save the grid configuration after making changes. It is recommended to validate your installation by configuring a stricter limit and confirming your solar inverter responds appropriately to loadbalancer curtailing commands. Read more about configuring the grid here.
